Sparrowind Scribblydoodles by cutelildrow
Sparrowind Scribblydoodles
Today was spent looking for cars which I can 1) sit in and see over the dash and STILL reach the pedals / clutch and 2)roomy enough to accommodate children, pram, groceries. Currently looking at a Subaru Forrester and a Mazda of some kind. At any rate, this means I've not been at my computers because Real Life (tm) has to take precedence and priority.

I started drawing idly while waiting for my hubby, and ended up with this rough sketch of Sparrowind, the hero of my novella. Because of positive feedback and requests that I expand the story, Sparrowind's stories will become a series of books aimed at readers anywhere from 6 to 15 years old, and books that can be read aloud by parents to their kids (something that I've gotten as a very positive feedback is "I can have a bedtime story that doesn't drive me up the wall."

wip-martel turnaround
Working on character concepts / turnarounds for my books. Decided to go with 'drawing body, with underclothing, then will draw clothes on top. Camera photo of my cintiq.

It is not easy to get feet to look the same. Or hands. *sigh*

Working area
Pictures snapped of my working area, and my muses of encouragement, Briareos and Homura-Chibichan telling me to get the $@%#!! to work. Ciel of course, is there to scowl disapprovingly at everything, as a reminder to keep working harder and better in my efforts every time.

The old looking, falling-apart books are books dating back to the late 1800s, which I use for my research. They belonged to my great-great grandmother.

I have dedicated computers to keep stuff separate. Artwork - Mac. The Cintiq is attached to that and that's where I also have a Wacom Inkling attached. I have a flagship station, and a gaming station. The third one I forget. I think it was another gaming box we keep forgetting to turn on.

Quick snaps done on my cellphone.

Mountain Of Beginnings-WIP
Working on a ton of stuff simultaneously - site graphics, books, book illustrations, etc. Gah! But it's still nice to be working like this, which will be used on certain projects. This one is for our site overhaul. WIP, but I'm out of time. Non-art/non-writing life needs time allocated to it now.

I'm hoping I can fix that sky...

Some news - I know, it's been a while, but I'm told these things take time to get a permalink.  Note: Waiting now only for the Amazon link!

EDITED TO ADD: Sparrowind is now available on iBookstore / iTunes AND Nook!

ETA2: I'm told that I've sold over a hundred copies of Sparrowind! *GLEE* I'm also hearing back from folks how much they'd love to read about more stories set in this world. Thank you!!!!!

After banging my head against the joys of Lulu ebook publishing I got my first solo ebook out - my short story / mini novella is available on Lulu purchase at present and will be available over time on Amazon, iBook and Nook. Links will be provided as they become available.

Sparrowind: The Dragon Who Lived As A Knight

iBooks/iTunes  Lulu Direct and Nook

Tiny Sparrowind can't hunt from the sky, cannot hope to best his siblings in contests of strength, and scrapes by to survive. But in the books stashed in his parents' hoard of gold and gems he finds a greater treasure: ideals.

Deciding to make his own way in life gives him more hope than he could have if he tried living only by the way of Dragonkind, but can this dreamer of a Dragon find his place in the world?

ETA 20-09-14: The OtherMcCain has a review of Sparrowind up! Thank you, and I am so happy you enjoyed it! :wai:

Also, the United Fleet ebook and the first Seda's Diary novellas are available on iBooks, Nook and Lulu Direct! (Amazon link will be up when I get the permalink. It takes time, I'm told. Sorry, but it's something out of our control.)

United Fleet 1: iBook/iTunes   Lulu  // Nook

Seda's Diary 1:   iBook/iTunes  //  Lulu  // Nook

:bookdiva:

Seda's Diary II: Outcast is currently being reformatted for ebook release. It's taking more time than I'd like, but Real Life™ has been far more hectic and time consuming than it really ought to be. :work:

I've a couple of other F.M.L. doodlestrips lined up for drawing, but I'm spacing them out between doing cover art and editing books / writing books. Avoiding burnout in the long run, y'know.

How to read EPUB books on Kindle: Lulu has helpful instructions. Scroll down to see them at the link. As I don't have Kindle myself, I am afraid I don't know how that works. ^^;

I've been hearing that Calibre is a great way to convert ePub books to any other ebook format. Or vice versa. Or use as a ebook reader and manager on your PC. It's completely for free and available for use on Mac, Windows and Linux! (For Linux users you may need to search via your native app manager or sudo apt get. As I am not familiar with ALL the ways to do this on all distros... uh... sorry for my cluelessness.)
  • Listening to: The hum of the computers all around me
  • Reading: Skin Game - Jim Butcher
  • Watching: the clock
  • Playing: no time for games! :shakefist:
  • Eating: Red Rock Deli Honey Soy Chicken Potato Chips
  • Drinking: Coca Cola
