Description

I started this much earlier this year, then forgot about it in the wake of a lot of busyness. By then my hair had grown from butt-length to thigh length, necessitating an adjustment of the original base colors and line-work. Since I usually wear it coiled up, and my hair naturally has a wave to begin with, if I tie it into a foxtail (like in the picture), the hair under the scrunchy coils itself into sausage-curl form.

The green fountain pen in the picture is my Dad's. He discovered the joy of writing in fountain pen while we lived in Paris, buying himself several Waterman fountain pens in different colors - and then proceeded to match those pen colors to pen ink. I tend to write in either black or purple ink if I'm writing with a fountain pen, so I had to de-clog and drain out the nib before slotting in one of Dad's leftover Waterman ink cartridges - left over from after his death nearly five years ago.

I've taken lately to writing in journals - physical ones, not my LJ - because I rather miss writing with a fountain pen and National Bookstore finally started stocking hardbound journals with paper that doesn't blot horribly when used with a fountain pen, and even more delightful: they're affordable things. My current journal is a sort of extended letter to Manta-X, which I will give to him when we finally end our 8 year (and ongoing) long distance relationship and live together as a family for good. I don't have a journal with that cover of my sigil; maybe one day I'll have one made.

I have the clothes in the picture IRL.

The bench I'm sitting on is based on the benches made of narra hardwood that's popular here. They simply smoothen the wood after cutting it into planks and then varnish it, and polish it, before putting them together as furniture, flaws and all. Cared for, the things can last a lifetime or two.

One of my favorite cafés here (which is also a bakery) has a ragtag assortment of these, a slightly lopsided table made of the stuff, metal and glass café sets, chess sets you can borrow, and a giant chess set. Pan de Americana's main branch in Marikina is worth the trip, especially for it's wheat pan de sal, and affordable menu. They even have a little hidden treehouse the kids can climb up to; it's a very family friendly restaurant/bakery.
